TOM JONES

Tom Jones, the singer, is on my mind today! Do you like him? Are you a fan?

Back in the late sixties, when I was building my name as artistic director of my own dance company, Welsh singer Tom Jones was in the news making hit records, performing in major venues, getting to be a famous name in the music world.

Since then, he’s sung in nearly every form of popular music -- pop, rock, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel. He’s sold over 100 million records. He’s been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and received numerous awards.

In this video, Tom Jones talks about the importance of the Olympics and reminisces. He’s speaking for me, today, about the importance of being busy, staying active, never, never retiring.

That's the joy of the arts - never retire in the ordinary sense of the word. Lots to do! Lots coming up...

What a great man!
I've loved Tom Jones since the moment I first heard him sing.
He has the most beautiful voice, and this video reveals a keen memory and intelligence and admirable philosophy of life.
He is an inspiration to anyone who is getting older year by year. Thank you Em, for bringing this forward. It's great to see people who are living life so passionately!

These days when just about everyone is called a genius, it's impossible to find the right word for this great Welsh performer. Take it from me, he is a wonderful person too. :)!!

Stay busy and do not stagnate is my take.

As long as an individual is doing something rather than nothing it's a good day in my book. There are some individuals, however who are perfectly content, at their own will,to do nothing.

Retirement in my opinion is simply a point of view. Some view retirement as a time where you get to do some if not all of the things you ever wanted to do because you didn't have the time to pursue them in the past.

On the flip side, there are those who have worked at what they have always desired to do throughout their life and can no longer continue that desire; or they have no desire to continue on that same path.

Retirement has a different meaning to everyone. For some the word or meaning "retirement" does not exist. I suppose it really depends on who you talk to.

I admire him so much. I would have sworn his voice would be shot twenty years ago, but he is still awesome.
